On April 12, six River Watchers from Manor High School visited the work site at Pruitt Tract, which is managed by Travis County Parks. While there, River Watchers learned about the Texas Post Oak Savannah Ecoregion and the role of controlled wildfires in the region.
On April 13, six River Watchers from Manor High School joined community volunteers on an informational tour about the characteristics of a Post Oak Savannah Ecoregion and the historical role of wildfires in the region at the Pruitt Tract work site by Glen Gillman of Travis County Parks. River Watchers then began clearing trails of understory trees. The ‘understory’ is a group of small trees, shrubs, and vines that grow under the taller trees.
April 14, four River Watchers from Manor High School continued their project of trail maintenance at the Pruitt Tract work site by removing brush to clear the trails.
April 15, seven River Watchers from Manor High School worked with community volunteers to finish clearing 500 feet of trails at Pruitt Tract.
