November 2 – 12, 2015 | Service Learning Project | Goat Cave Preserve
On November 2, six River Watchers from Austin High completed a pre-assessment analysis of Goat Cave Preserve considering the natural and social impacts to the area. They reviewed tenets of a karst aquifer and watershed features. Students were led by Olivia of Save Barton Creek Association on a tour of the recharge features at the Preserve.
On November 3, six River Watchers from Austin High cleared vegetation from the trail, dispersed native plant seeds, and planted native grass plugs near a recharge feature.
On November 4, four River Watchers from Austin High were led a on a educational tour of two recharge features by Drew, a Watershed Protection staff member.
On November 12, two River Watchers helped trim a fallen tree on the trail and remove sediment from a cave with volunteers.
