April 27, 2017 | Senior Dinner
This year all 15 senior River Watchers are graduating from high school! In order to honor and celebrate their accomplishments, Austin Youth River Watch hosted a senior dinner at Third Base South Park Meadows in which 11 River Watcher seniors were able to attend, some along with their family or friends. At the dinner each student received an honor cord and certificate and had the opportunity to share with us what they learned in AYRW, their favorite memory with us, and their plans after high school. River Watchers also enjoyed a senior slide show put together by staff, highlighting the work they have accomplished throughout the years.
Of the 15 graduating River Watchers, 3 spent their entire high school career with us, 4 became mentors for their peers, 3 served as ambassadors for AYRW, and they collectively completed 3,436 hours with AYRW serving our community by:
• Monitoring our waterways, collecting the data to keep us safe,
• Doing the hard work to improve riparian ecosystems,
• Building community with each other and throughout Austin,
• And, being excellent stewards of our environment.
