April 12 & 13, 2017 | Tree Planting along Onion Creek
Thirty River Watchers from Akins, Travis, Austin, McCallum High Schools, and The Liberal Arts Science Academy took advantage of the saturated soils from all the rain and planted around 100 Bald Cypress seedlings along Onion Creek and in McKinney Falls State Park, courtesy of our friends at TreeFolks. In addition to water quality monitoring, another way our students help improve their community is through hands-on service projects where our students learn about proper riparian health and functioning.
