April 1, 2016 | Hornsby Bend Tour
12 River Watchers toured the stabilization ponds at Hornsby Bend. These ponds are used to treat biosolids from the City’s wastewater plants. Once in the ponds, the biosolids go through a treatment process called anaerobic digestion, which destroys more than 90% of the pathogens. After another process that thickens the biosolids, then these digested biosolids are reused in land application and composting. River Watchers now understand what Dillo Dirt is!
