June 15-16: 14 young men participated in the Austin Youth River Watch Young Men’s Retreat – We barbecued in the front yard at the EcoHouse and then went for the 9-10pm swim at Barton Springs. Most of the students participated in the night creatures hike, where we called to the owls and saw the silhouette of one fly over and we heard others. We also heard a great coyote howl – it was close! In the morning we did benthic macroinvertebrate (water bug) sampling at McKinney Falls State Park with Todd Jackson, CoA Watershed Protection Biologist and volunteers from Austin Involved. It was Awesome! Thanks to Todd! And thanks to All the Volunteers!
