October 21, 2017 | Girl’s Fall Canoe Trip and Overnight
12 River Watchers from 5 area high schools and 3 staff canoed down the Colorado River from Little Webberville Park to Webberville Park. The students stopped at (informally known as) Cook’s Island to have lunch and swim in the river. Later the students stayed overnight at the EcoHouse and a few camped out back in a tent. Outdoor adventure is an important component of our programming; these adventures are transformative, educational experiences that cultivate the imagination and environmental awareness of our future stewards. On these trips our students gain valuable outdoor skills, build core values (such as teamwork, self-reliance, and courage), and foster a love of nature for a lifetime to come. Big thanks to Cook’s Canoes in Webberville for providing another great experience for our students!
