April 4, 2017 | Tree Planting Adventure at Hornsby Bend
Fifteen River Watchers from Lanier, Manor, and Reagan High Schools planted 49 bald cypress trees along the Colorado River at Hornsby Bend. Ina from TreeFolks talked to the students about the benefits of trees, particularly bald cypress, in riparian (or riverside) areas, and led them in the planting. The students learned that a healthy riparian forest filters pollutants, slows flooding, and provides habitat for wildlife.
