January 15-16, 2017 | Young Men’s Sleepover
Fourteen young men of River Watch had an overnight event. Sleepovers and camp-outs give River Watchers from different schools an opportunity to meet and interact with each other in peer-learning activities. Young men from six different high schools participated: Lanier, Reagan, McCallum, Akins, Travis, and Manor. These experiences are especially important in helping young people develop an understanding of different perspectives, as they learn to function in a multicultural environment. Due to the weather and safety concerns, the MLK Buttermilk Creek Volunteer Event the River Watchers were excited about participating in was cancelled. Instead, their overnight adventures included a two mile night hike and games galore.
