13 River Watchers from Travis High and McCallum High participated in a soil collection event at the EcoHouse with members from the City of Austin’s Brownfields Revitalization Office at Austin Resource Recovery and the Environmental Protection Agency Region 6. Members of the EPA provided a hands-on workshop for River Watchers, demonstrating how to collect a soil sample for a nutrient analysis. River Watchers then collected several samples from the EcoHouse yard, which they will bring to the Soil Kitchen on April 14th. The samples were each labeled with a unique identifier and the cross streets closest to the sample locations. Once the results are available, they will be posted online.
