June 29, 2015: Eight River Watchers participated in a Benthic Macroinvertebrates / Fish Sampling Workshop at Hornsby Bend. River Watchers identified different types of aquatic benthic macroinvertebrates and talked about what was found during the previous workshop. Macroinvertebrates tell a story about the health of the stream. Changes in the macroinvertebrate community usually means a change in the water quality. River Watchers worked together and went “all in” to the Colorado River with a fishing seine to collect fish. Collection data from the fish sampling are used to track trends of the fish populations and to identify species.
