July 30, 2014: Six River Watchers participated in a Riparian Function Workshop as part of the Service Learning Program. Kevin Anderson, Director of the Center for Environmental Research, led the River Watchers on a hike while discussing urban hydrology, riparian health, and the natural history of the area at the mouth of Waller Creek. River Watchers then cooled off in Barton Creek and enjoyed lunch. They finished their day by discussing and reviewing the main tenets of proper riparian functioning at Zilker Park and completed the Post Workshop Assessment.
