July 29, 2014: Three River Watchers participated in a Riparian Function Workshop as part of the Service Learning Program. Rene Barrera with the City of Austin Nature Preserves, led a hike while discussing urban hydrology, riparian health, and the interconnectedness of nature at Blunn Nature Preserve. River Watchers cooled off in Barton Creek and enjoyed lunch. They wrapped up their day by discussing and reviewing the main tenets of proper riparian functioning at Zilker Park and completed Post Workshop Assessment.
