March 8-13, 2014: 14 River Watchers from seven AISD schools went on a week-long, spring break EcoAdventure to East Texas! They camped at Brazos Bend State Park, Martin Dies Jr. State Park, and Caddo Lake State Park. Along the way, they observed the underwater world at the Moody Gardens aquarium, took a breezy ride on the Galveston Island Ferry, gazed at the clear night sky while sitting around campfires, visited a Nature Center and the George Observatory, became pros at assembling and disassembling tents, navigated a paddling trail through backwater sloughs, enjoyed night hikes, made new friends at an alligator farm and petting zoo, toured Caddo Lake’s diverse ecosystem on a pontoon boat, practiced their camping culinary skills, added Louisiana to U.S. states they have visited, and SO MUCH MORE!
