September 20-21, 2013: Eight young men of Austin Youth River Watch came together to build camaraderie. They played games and helped teach others some games that were new to them like ‘Conquian.’ After nightfall, the River Watchers donned their rain panchos and headed out into the night, down the forest river trail for an Owl Prowl and Night Creatures Hike. We heard a couple in the distance but mostly had fun rustling in our rain panchos down the trail with as little help from flashlights as possible. Everyone who came had more friends when they left than when they arrived…and that is the big purpose! Once a River Watcher feels like part of the group, they will stay with the program and in their school until graduation.
